Join the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (NMMNHS) at the Sandia Mountain Natural History Center (SMNHC) in Cedar Crest on the evening of October 4, 2025 for the annual event: International Observe the Moon Night. The evening kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with Laura McCann, founder of Raptors of New Mexico Foundation, and her live birds of prey, followed by a short talk at 6:30 p.m. by Jim Greenhouse from NMMNHS about the PUNCH Solar Mission to study our closest star. Moon and star gazing will begin at 7 p.m. with telescopes for you to gaze at and learn about the night sky (weather permitting). Activities and information about the moon will be available along with the one-room NMMNHS Museum Outpost.
