Ribbons of Green - Adapting to Climate Change on New Mexico's Middle Rio Grande
In celebration of National Rivers Month, join us for a short presentation and discussion by John Fleck, Utton Center and Department of Economics, UNM, about Albuquerque’s relationship with the Rio Grande and the way the river and the city are adapting to a changing world. About the Author: John Fleck has written about water and water resources in the southwest for many years. Fleck is Writer in Residence at the Utton Center, University of New Mexico School of Law; and Professor of Practice in Water Policy and Governance in the University of New Mexico Department of Economics. The former director of the University of New Mexico’s Water Resources Program, he is the author of Water is For Fighting Over and Other Myths About Water in the West; co-author, with Eric Kuhn, of Science Be Dammed: How Ignoring Inconvenient Science Drained the Colorado River; and co-author, with Robert Berrens of a forthcoming history of Albuquerque’s relationship with the Rio Grande: Ribbons of Green: The Rio Grande and the Making of a Modern American City.
