Alcohol, Genes, and the Brain: The Latest Science and Dispelling Myths

Join Dr. Witkiewitz for an overview of the latest science on alcohol use and alcohol use disorder, including why humans tend to enjoy alcohol, and the effects of alcohol on the brain, as well as different prevention and treatment options for alcohol use disorder.
Dr. Witkiewitz is a Regents’ Professor of Psychology at the University of New Mexico. The underlying theme of her research is the development of models of addiction and understanding how addiction impacts people over time. Dr. Witkiewitz has authored 5 books, is a licensed clinical psychologist, and has worked extensively on the development of interventions to treat addiction.
