International SUNday, Solar Sundays

Location:
Observatory

Study our star in greater detail and have a little fun too! In addition to viewing the sun in several ways through a variety of specially-filtered telescopes provided by the Albuquerque Astronomical Society (weather permitting), fun family activities will demonstrate the power of the sun’s light, heat, and radiation. Kids can color their own sun and make solar-powered jewelry and sundials. At 1:15 p.m., see a special short feature in the planetarium about how NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory is unlocking the sun's secrets.

The ABC Library System will also be on hand to talk about their summer educational programs. The UNM Institute of Meteoritics will demonstrate how to find a rock that once orbited the sun.

This edition of Solar Sunday corresponds with International SUNday. Find out how to participate in this event here: https://www.facebook.com/INTLSUNDAY/
