I am a paleontologist and stratigrapher who specializes in the study of late Paleozoic, Mesozoic and early Cenozoic vertebrate fossils and continental deposits, particularly in the American Southwest. I have extensive field experience in the western United States as well as in northern Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Soviet Georgia and the People's Republic of China. I have published more than 500 scientific articles and co-edited 14 books. I have authored 3 books. I have 16 years of museum experience and 17 years of teaching experience at the university level.
