Young Explorers Camp Programs



  • All camps are for grades K-5th
  • Aftercare will be available from 4:00pm to 5:00pm every day for $10/day
  • Kindergarteners must have experience in full-day classes before attending.


Young Explorers Summer Camp, 2018

Wild Weather & Curious Climatology

June 18th - 22th (9am-4pm)

Become a Meteorologist for a week - adventure through lightning, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and winter storms. K-2 & 3-5 sections

DaVinci I - From Parachutes to Outer Space

June 25th – 29th (9am-4pm)

Explore and create inventions, ponder what Leo would have thought about the planets & try your hand at various flying machines. K-2 & 3-5

Da Vinci II – From Water to Bats to Rocks

July 9th – 13th (9am-4pm)

DaVinci spent much of his notebook space drawing and learning about the world and then devising fantastical inventions. K- 2 & 3-5 sections

Water is Wonderful - Water is Life

July 16th – 20th (9am-4pm)

Explore the many facets of water during a hot summer week-physical qualities, artistic ideas & wet experiments. K-2 and 3-5 sections

Dino Detectives

July 23rd - 27th (9am-4pm)

Emerging Paleontologists will break rocks, create habitats & dig for bones. K-2


Habitat in the Garden

July 23rd - 27th (9am-4pm)

Get your hands dirty - explore the diversity of our Learning Garden- look for critters & provide habitat. 3-5

Space Detectives

July 30th - August 4th (9am-4pm)

Blast off through the solar system and beyond creating and learning about celestial objects and space flight. K-2


Naturally Naturalists

July 30th - August 4th (9am-4pm)

Discover  surprising and incredible areas of Albuquerque- explore the Sandias, start a collection, peek behind the scenes. 3-5

Science Sleuths

August 6th - 10th (9am-4pm)

Explore the museum visiting the exhibit halls & behind the scenes - experimenting & creating & learning  K-2 & 3-5 sections

  • The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science reserves the right to cancel any event that does not reach a minimum of six participants. A full refund will be given if the session is cancelled by the museum due to low enrollment.
