The Wonder of Learning: The Hundred Languages of Children International Touring Exhibit on the Reggio Emilia Approach to Early Childhood Education is brought to New Mexico by the NM Wonder of Learning Collaborative.
ALBUQUERQUE NM—June 19: The Wonder of Learning: The Hundred Languages of Children exhibit opens in New Mexico at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science.
A press conference will take place at 6:00 pm at the museum for a very special –– by-invitation-only –– reception for NM leaders. Mayor Berry and First Lady Maria Berry have been invited. Confirmed speakers include two educators from Reggio Emilia; two NM elected officials -- County Commissioner Lonnie Talbert and State Senator Michael Padilla; an APS teacher, Dona Sosa, who uses this approach in her classroom; Mike Petro, Executive Vice President, Committee for Economic Development (CED); and Allen Sanchez, CEO, CHI St. Joseph's Children, the premiere sponsor for the WOL exhibit.
This exhibit of children’s creativity documents the educational experiences of young children from the city of Reggio Emilia, Italy, and demonstrates what one city has done to support the potential of each and every child – when a community puts its children first.
The exhibit is a catalyst for discussion, offering an opportunity for New Mexico leaders, policy makers, educators, families and the public, to learn innovative ways of putting NM children first.
The exhibit opens with a three-day international conference, “Promoting the Rights of Children: Community Participation and Dialogue,” organized by North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA) and Reggio Children,
