This unique exhibit blends science, art, and humor in the story of the big, bizarre “whorl-toothed” shark (Helicoprion) that lived in the oceans covering the southwest about 300 million years ago. Discover what scientists are learning about this shark through the sketches and work of Alaskan artist Ray Troll. The exhibit features fossils of the shark, Troll’s original artwork, original music, children’s activities, and much more.Also see New Mexico shark fossils, including a buzz saw shark tooth recently discovered in rocks east of Socorro.
Opening Day activities include a presentation by Ray Troll at 10:00 am followed by a book signing in NatureWorks.
