Lecture - “Leonardo’s Many Lives”

Dr. Luis Campos, Associate Professor of the History of Science, UNM

Leonardo da Vinci's many accomplishments in so many different fields have astonished onlookers for centuries. In this talk, Dr. Campos will describe Leonardo's changing place in the history of science, and will suggest how each generation, by retelling the amazing story of Leonardo's life and labors, finds the Leonardo they are looking for.

Luis Campos, Ph.D. is Associate Professor in the History Department at the University of New Mexico and the Baruch S. Blumberg NASA/Library of Congress Chair of Astrobiology in Washington DC (2017). Trained in both biology and the history of science, Campos’ scholarship explores the intersection of biology and society. He is the author of "Radium and the Secret of Life" (2015) and "Making Mutations: Objects, Practices, Contexts" (2010).  Dr. Campos is currently the Secretary of the International History of Science Society.
