FAMILY SCIENCE WORKSHOPS – “THE FORCE IS WITH YOU”

Location:
Classroom #2

Science workshops for 2-9 year olds AND adult companions.  This is an exciting opportunity for families to delve in to science together through hands-on investigations.   Choose to attend one of our two sessions of this great event:  11am-12pm or 1pm-2pm.

Join Museum educators as we explore magnets and magnetism in this family workshop “The Force is With You”.  Have you ever wondered how magnets actually work? The magnets on your refrigerator, the magnet in a can opener that holds the can in place, a magnetic button on a purse - it seems like magic, but it's actually science! Magnets have invisible forces that allow objects to pull together (attract) or push apart (repel). This workshop invites families to have fun exploring the magic of magnetic forces with common household objects, showing how simple and fun science can be

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science is a partner site with the Franklin Institute in an NSF grant funded program, “LEAP into Science”, focusing on joining science education and literacy together in fun and engaging investigations for the youngest learners and this adult companions.  This workshop is one of many developed by the Franklin Institute.
