Traveling Exhibit Volunteers

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science in Albuquerque has decided to extend our temporary exhibit, Brain: The Inside Story, which is currently on display now and will be extended until November 10th, 2019.  We are in need of friendly and positive volunteers to staff the exhibit. Volunteers will provide outstanding customer service by greeting guests, answering questions, and interpreting exhibit information.

Volunteers are needed seven days a week and must commit to a minimum of three shifts a month. Volunteers must complete a short training. Trainings will be offered on June 14th, 20th, and 24th from 2-4pm at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science.  For information, visit:http://www.nmnaturalhistory.org/content/volunteer-association or contact the Museum’s volunteer office at 841-2877 orvolunteer.nhm@state.nm.us

Inspired by Nature

Spend an evening at the museum creating a coil “Olla” for your garden. Earthenware clay irrigation jars, or “ollas” in Spanish, provide one of the most effective ways to give plants water. Roots of plants attach themselves to the porous unglazed clay, and suck water as they need it.   Learn how the ollas are used in our very own Kiwanis Learning Garden.

Participants will learn about the history of “ollas,” and leave their pot with the instructor for firing, to pick up one week later.

21+ only bring yourI.D.
$25Tickets

$20 for museum members.

A portion of every ticket sale will go to help support the Learning Garden at the Museum.
