Only about ten skulls of Parasaurolophus have ever been found, and this one, from the Kirtland Formation near Farmington, is one of the most complete.

The Parasaurolophus skull shown here was analyzed with a medical CT scanner that revealed the complex internal tubing. Computer modeling of the respiratory passages of Parasaurolophus, a joint research program of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science and Sandia National Laboratories, revealed that it was capable of producing very distinctive sounds.
